Two held with 17 kg gold, diamonds in Punjab
December 28th, 2009 - 8:28 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ludhiana, Dec 28 (IANS) Two people were arrested Monday after a heist in a jewellery shop in Punjab’s largest city and 17 kg of gold, diamonds and cash were recovered from them, police said.
The theft in Forever Jewellers was noticed Sunday when the owner opened the shop.
Police arrested Sandeep, an employee of the shop, and his accomplice.
According to police, there were no signs of forced entry and all the locks were opened using keys. A security guard, outside the shop, had left the place unguarded for some time in the early hours Sunday.
Cameras installed in the shop were switched off by the thieves during the robbery, police said.
