Two held in Jharkhand with 210 kg of bomb-making chemical
August 17th, 2009 - 3:37 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Aug 17 (IANS) Two people have been arrested while transporting 210 kg of ammonium nitrate in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district, police said Monday. The chemical is a common ingredient in bombs and mines.
A truck laden with ammonium nitrate was seized Sunday night near Ichak block of Hazaribagh, around 120 km from here, and two people were arrested, an official said.
According to police sources, the ammonium nitrate was meant to be supplied to Maoist rebels to make explosives. Earlier, a truck laden with ammonium nitrate was stolen by the rebels in Ramgarh district.
