Two held for smuggling of antique idols
September 10th, 2011 - 11:24 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 10 (IANS) Two men, involved in smuggling of antique idols, were arrested and three ‘ashtadhatu’ (eight-metal) idols worth around Rs.25 crore were seized in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad district Saturday, police said.
Sanskar Kumar and Ramkrishna were nabbed from a hideout in Allahabad.
“Preliminary investigations reveal the two have been involved in smuggling of antique idols for over the last five years,” police inspector Brijesh Dwivedi told reporters in Allahabad, some 350 km from Lucknow.
