Two held for hoax call about bomb in PM’s aircraft

Manmohan Singh Chennai, Dec 27 (IANS) Chennai police Tuesday detained a father-son duo for making a threatening call about a bomb in the special aircraft that flew in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu from Dec 25.

According to police, the anonymous call came to the Pallavaram station near here Monday afternoon by which time Manmohan Singh had reached Tiruchirapalli for participating in functions at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district.

Security personnel at Tiruchirapalli made a through search of the aircraft and discovered that the call was a hoax.

Manmohan Singh left for New Delhi Monday evening after participating in the scheduled functions.

Meanwhile, the city police tracked the shop that sold the SIM card which was used to make the hoax call, and found it was sold to Ravichandran.

Police tracked down the number and detained Ravichandran and his son R. Jayakumar, a student.
