New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) Two men, who posed as journalists and extorted money from policemen claiming to have conducted a sting operation on them, have been arrested, Delhi Police Sunday said.
Pushp Kumar Sharma and Pankaj Kumar were arrested last week from Hauz Khas in south Delhi when they were trying to extort money from a Delhi Police head constable, a police officer said.

Explaining the modus operandi of the duo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said: “The duo used to create fake accident scenes on the road. As soon as police arrived at the spot, they would pretend to have reached a compromise.”

“On the pretext of paying money to the victims as damages they would take change of Rs.500 or Rs.1,000 currency notes from the policeman. After some days, they would start making calls to the policeman concerned, and claiming to be journalists threaten them that they had captured their images with money and demand extra money from them,” Dhaliwal said.
