Two held for bid to abduct doctor

Noida, Dec 7 (IANS) A 30-year-old doctor was assaulted during a bid to abduct her in Noida, police said Wednesday. Two people were arrested.

Sona Sharma, a doctor living in Alpha-II sector in Greater Noida, was returning home from Rajrani Hospital at Salarpur when an alleged goon, Sunder Bhati, along with his accomplice, tried to kidnap her around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The attempt was made when she stopped her car close to a shop near the hospital.

Sharma, daughter of a retired brigadier, resisted the abduction attempt, shouted for help. On hearing her screams, the locals gathered at the spot and informed police.

Bhati fled to his home nearby but was arrested, a police official said.

A case was registered on the complaint of the doctor against Bhati. He was arrested along with one of his accomplices. The two were sent to judicial custody Wednesday, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Jyoti Narayan.
