Two girls killed for falling in love

Ghaziabad, March 25 (IANS) Four criminals have been arrested here on charges of murdering a young girl who fell in love with a boy from another locality.
Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar said the accused — Arif, Hasim, Jalees and Munshed — were involved in “social policing”. He added that they were opposed to the girl’s friendship with the boy.

Earlier, a 15-year-old girl was set on fire by four men over her friendship with a boy in Tauri Tereh locality of Ghaziabad Monday morning, police said Wednesday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar, Imrana Hakim was at her house with her younger sister in the morning when the attackers poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

Imrana suffered almost 90 percent burns and died in a hospital. Before dying, she identified three of her attackers as Mohammad Hashim, Mohammad Arif and Jalees Ahmad.

“We have arrested Hashim and Arif. Two others are absconding,” Kumar said.
