Two girls drown in Pune
March 24th, 2011 - 12:33 am ICT by IANSPune, March 23 (IANS) Two girls are suspected to have drowned in a canal in a suburb of this Maharashtra city, police said Wednesday.
The victims’ were identified as Priyanka Ovhal, 17, and Komal Pawar, 17, both students of Akubai Kalyani Junior college here, police said. The two had gone missing after their geography examination Monday.
“When the girls did not return home after their exams, their parents lodged a missing person’s complaint Tuesday,” a police official.
“The bodies were found today (Wednesday) from the canal. The girls must have not been able to resist the strong currents of the canal and must have drowned,” the official said.
