Two foreign journalists kidnapped in Somalia

Mogadishu, Aug 24 (Xinhua) Two foreign journalists were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on the outskirts of the Somali capital Saturday, an official said.An official of a hotel, where the two had stayed, confirmed that a Canadian woman and an Australian man were kidnapped by unknown gunmen Saturday.

The journalists were on their way to the camps of internally displaced people when they were kidnapped on the road between Mogadishu and Afgooye, the official said on condition of anonymity.

The hotel security accompanying the journalists was also kidnapped. It is not immediately known where they were taken.

Earlier this month, two Italian aid workers and two German tourists were freed by their captors after a huge ransom was reportedly paid for their release.
