Two food adulterators told to pay Rs.10 lakh each
November 29th, 2011 - 12:58 am ICT by IANSBhopal, Nov 28 (IANS) A court in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior has imposed a fine of Rs.10 lakh each on two adulterators, officials said Monday.
Additional District Magistrate Satendra Singh’s order Monday is the first major judgment based on the Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011.
He directed ghee traders Veeru Shah and Manoj Agrawal to pay Rs.10 lakh each as fine.
The judgment said that prohibited Panghat Brand ghee for sale was found at the business establishments of the accused and large quantities of prohibited brand Madhuban and adulterated loose ghee were also found at their business premises.
