Two engineering students held for vehicle thefts

Noida, Jan 12 (IANS) Two engineering students have been arrested for stealing vehicles in Noida, police said Wednesday. Mukul Mittal, a second year B.Tech student of RKGIT Engineering College on Meerut Road in Ghaziabad, and Sumit De, a second year B.Tech student of Skyline College in Meerut, were arrested Tuesday night.

The police also seized a car that belonged to Sumit’s father.

Sumit failed in the second year of the course and talked to a middleman to procure fake mark sheets of B.Tech.

“Sumit stole his own father’s Chevrolet car around three months back to arrange money for the middleman. His father Subroto De lodged a case of theft with Sector-20 police,” said the official.

The two students indulged in criminal activities and stole bikes and cars from various places. They then spent the money on their girlfriends and led a lavish lifestyle, said the official.
