Hoshiarpur (Punjab), March 2 (IANS) Two Punjab Police officers were booked Wednesday for abetting a colleague’s suicide, police said.

Jaswinder Pal Singh, assistant sub-inspector at Guraya police station in Jalandhar, committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Ahuma Mughla village Tuesday night, according to police.

In a suicide note Singh accused Swaran Singh Bal, station house officer of Guraya police station, and head constable Harjeet Singh of constantly pressuring him to develop contacts with drug peddlers and bring bribe from them, the official added.

A case has been registered against the two officials, said Harpreet Singh Mandher, deputy superintendent of police in Mahilpur.

Jabir Kaur, wife of Jaswinder Pal Singh, told IANS: “My husband was very disturbed for the last two months. He took his life because he could not do anything against his senior. The station house officer had also come to our house and threatened us.”
