Two children injured in celebratory firing

New Delhi, May 6 (IANS) Two children, including a girl, were injured in celebratory gun firing during marriage processions in two separate incidents in the national capital Friday evening.

In the first case, a 14-year-old Sadhana was injured when a stray bullet hit her during a marriage ceremony in south Delhi, police said.

“The incident took place around 5.30 p.m. at Shahbad Mohammedpur village near the Indira Gandhi International Airport when Sadhna was watching the marriage procession of Ankur Solanki,” said a police official.

Somebody in the procession fired in the sky from a rifle and the bullet hit Sadhna’s ear, the official said.

The girl was rushed to a nearby Ayushman Hospital in Dwarka Sector 23.

In a similar incident, Akshay, a Class 8 student, was injured by a stray bullet near Rohini in north Delhi during a marriage ceremony of Dablu Kumar, a property dealer.

Akshay was returning from his tuition in Rithala when the gun shot hit him. He was rushed to the nearby Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, according to the police official.

One person has been arrested in the case, but the main accused is absconding, the official said.
