Two carjackings at gunpoint in Noida

Noida, Jan 28 (IANS) Two men were robbed of their cars at gunpoint here, the police said Wednesday. In the first incident, Taufiq, a chauffeur, was held captive for about two hours and robbed of his employee’s WagonR car at gunpoint by four men whom he had given lift to near Rajnigandha Crossing here around 9.30 p.m. Tuesday, the police said.

The assailants also fired at Taufiq, who, however, escaped unhurt. They fled with the car, but soon collided with a truck. Three of the men managed to escape, while the fourth, Raju, who was allegedly in an inebriated state was later arrested and the car was recovered, the police added.

In the second incident, a call centre cab was carjacked at gunpoint near sector 12 around 12. a.m. Wednesday. The four assailants fled with the Tavera, leaving the driver, Rajpal Tyagi, behind.

Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. TripathI said: “We are trying to trace the assailants in both the cases. We have got some leads and hopefully we will make some arrests soon.”
