Two car thieves held, eight vehicles recovered
April 23rd, 2011 - 7:30 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 23 (IANS) Two members of a gang responsible for more than 30 cases of vehicle thefts in Delhi and satellite towns around have been arrested, police said Saturday.
Shamsher Mewati, the gang leader, and Hashim were arrested Friday after the police received a tip-off that they would come to Malviya Nagar area of south Delhi.
A country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two special master keys were seized from them and later eight stolen cars - a Honda Civic, a Honda City, a Bolero, three Indigo and two Santro cars - were recovered, a senior police officer said.
