Two boys drown after falling in pit
August 14th, 2010 - 10:53 pm ICT by IANSNoida, Aug 14 (IANS) Two boys, aged 13 and nine, died after falling in a pit filled with water in Sector 32 area of Noida, police said Saturday.
Varun (13) and Shekhar (9) fell into the pit while playing in fields behind S1 Mall in Sector 32, near the City Centre Metro Station, Friday evening, said Superintendent of Police (City) H.N. Singh.
“The pit was full of rain water. They entered it not knowing that it was deep and drowned,” Singh said. The incident occurred around 6.30 p.m. Friday.
Varun lived in Sector 19 and Shekhar lived in Sector 31, police said.
“Their parents launched a hunt for them when they did not return home till late Friday night,” he said.
In the morning some passers by noticed the two bodies and informed police.
