Two baby girls burnt to death
May 9th, 2011 - 8:33 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, May 9 (IANS) Two baby girls were burnt to death in their sleep when a fire broke out in a makeshift hut at a construction site in Mumbai Monday, police here said.
The incident took place at a construction site in the Beverly Park area of Mira Road township in north Mumbai.
Six-month-old Aisha and Jharna (two) were sleeping inside the hut when the fire gutted it.
Their father Mohammed Shaikh, a labourer, was at work while their mother was washing clothes nearby, an official from the Mira Road police station told IANS.
“All the four huts at the construction site were burnt down after they caught fire following an electrical short circuit,” he said.
