Two arrested with Rs.11 lakh in fake notes
May 15th, 2010 - 12:28 am ICT by IANSLucknow, May 14 (IANS) Two men were arrested Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district with counterfeit currency with face value of Rs.11 lakh, police said.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team of STF (Special Task Force) arrested Vinay Kumar and Monu Kumar from the Sadar Bazar area of Meerut,” Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal told reporters.
Meerut is 350 km from Lucknow.
“The two, who are residents of Haridwar in Uttarakhand, have confessed circulating fake notes in parts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the eastern regions,” he added.
According to police, the two men work for an inter-state gang involved in manufacturing and supply of fake currency notes.
