Two army officers killed in fire in Siachen (Lead)
July 22nd, 2011 - 12:10 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 22 (IANS) An Indian Army major and lieutenant were killed in a fire that broke out at a post in Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, sources said here Friday.
Four soldiers also received burn injuries in the fire Thursday morning, army sources here said. A fibreglass shelter at the army post in Siachen, Jammu and Kashmir, caught fire.
India and Pakistan have maintained a ceasefire at the glacier since November 2003. A court of inquiry has been ordered.
