The incident was reported around 12 p.m. in south Delhi’s Okhla area when truck driver Vishnu hit the cyclist who was identified as Vijender.
While fleeing the spot, the driver rammed his fully-laden truck into a container on a flyover in Okhla. The collision was of such a magnitude that that gas cutters were needed to take the driver out of the mangled heap.
“It took us two hours to take Vishnu out of the mangled truck. He was rushed to AIIMS where he was declared dead,” said a police officer.
Vijender’s body was found near the collision site.
