Trooper, two men arrested with heroin
December 30th, 2011 - 2:58 pm ICT by IANSAgartala, Dec 30 (IANS) A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) trooper and two civilians have been arrested in Tripura with one kg of heroin, police said Friday.
The trooper, Harish Thapa, was arrested along with teacher Debnanlal Kaipeng and another man, Mojendra Reang, at Amarpur in southern Tripura Thursday night.
“The contraband is Thailand-made and valued at Rs.1 crore in the international market,” a police official said. The men were caught about 90 km south of here.
Police suspect the heroin was smuggled from Bangladesh.
