Trooper kills colleague, wife
September 24th, 2011 - 9:37 pm ICT by IANSMeerut (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 24 (IANS) A Rapid Action Force (RAF) constable shot dead his colleague in the RAF and his wife after an altercation in this Uttar Pradesh district Saturday, and escaped, police said.
Jai Prakash, 40, and his wife Shakuntala, 38, were shot dead by their neighbour Anil Kumar, 39, in Transport Nagar area.
“Anil Kumar used his Service rifle to kill the husband-wife duo, who died on the spot,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Pooran Singh Sagar told reporters in Meerut, some 450 km from Lucknow.
“Though we are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the motive of the crime, it has come to our knowledge that Anil had a verbal duel with Jai Prakash over a dispute related to water,” he said.
Anil Kumar is on the run, Sagar added.
