Trooper commits suicide in Uttar Pradesh
May 4th, 2010 - 12:01 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, May 4 (IANS) A paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) trooper posted on the Nepalese border in Uttar Pradesh’s Shrawasti district allegedly shot himself dead with a self-loaded rifle, police said Tuesday.
Harish Giri, 35, a constable with the SSB killed himself late Monday in Shrawasti, about 230 km from here.
“He (Giri) killed himself on duty at the SSB camp in the Sirsia area. We are yet to ascertain why Giri took the extreme step. Investigations are on,” sub-inspector Munna Ram said.
According to police, no suicide note was recovered from Giri, who was a native of Almora district in Uttarakhand.
