Tripura trooper gets life for killing three colleagues
November 27th, 2010 - 8:17 pm ICT by IANSAgartala, Nov 27 (IANS) After a seven-year trial, a Tripura court Saturday sentenced to life imprisonment a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) trooper for killing three colleagues and looting arms from a security camp, police said.
“Additional District and Sessions Judge, North Tripura District, Bamdeb Majumder sentenced Rohit Mia, 43, to life imprisonment for looting weapons after killing three troopers on Sep 23, 2003,” a police official told reporters here.
Mia was held guilty of sedition, conspiracy and murder. He was nabbed in 2004.
Apart from the three killings, Mia injured three troopers in the incident which occurred at Shermoon Tilla TSR camp in North Tripura, 155 km from here.
Mia, helped by National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants, looted 11 rifles, a machine gun, 20 grenades, 16 magazines and around 1,300 bullets.
