“The National Informatics Centre (NIC) developed a software for the National Information Commission to operate the ‘Online System’ of getting information, filing complaints by the people and their processing under the RTI Act,” Tripura’s Chief Information Commissioner B.K. Chakraborty told IANS.
“We have customised NIC’s software to introduce the new system - first among the Indian states. Either using networks of National Informatics Centre or BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) or any other networks, anybody can now file their application to the RTI authority from any places in India,” Chakraborty added.
According to the TIC chief, the disposal rate of RTI complaints filed by people is more than 95 percent in Tripura, where more than 20,000 applications have been submitted under the RTI Act since the commission started functioning in January 2006.
In his speech, Sarkar appreciated the efforts of the TIC for its effective work on RTI.
“In various social issues, including RTI and voluntary blood donation, Tripura has become the number one state in India,” he said.
