Tripura director general of police dead

Agartala, May 2 (IANS) Tripura Director General of Police K.T.D. Singh died here Friday following cardiac arrest. He was 59. Singh, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1974 batch Tripura-Manipur cadre, is survived by his wife, a daughter and three sons.

“Singh was in a critical condition and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the government medical college here following a massive heart attack Wednesday while he was working in his office,” said Pradip Bhowmik, senior cardiologist.

A resident of Bihar, Singh started his career in Tripura and held various important positions in the state and in the central para-military force.

He was scheduled to retire from service in July this year.

“Cremation would be finalised in consultation with his family members,” said Nepal Das, police spokesman.

Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar have expressed grief at the death of Singh.
