Tribal labourer allegedly tortured to death
December 14th, 2011 - 9:02 pm ICT by IANSNagpur, Dec 14 (IANS) Barely three weeks after a tribal labourer was allegedly tortured to death, a second case has come to light in Thane, a Maharashtra legislator said Wednesday.
Vivek Pandit from Vasai said Ramdas Shankar Valvi, a suspected bonder labourer, was tortured to death this week.
“Three days ago, the owners of a brick kiln in Ghodbunder area dumped the body at his house in Udhale village,” Pandit told IANS.
Pandit said police allegedly connived with the kiln owners to hush up the case.
Pandit has demanded that a case of murder be filed against the kiln owner.
Last month, another tribal, Jipru Mukne, was allegedly chained, beaten and tortured by a kiln owner to whom he owed money. He died Nov 22.
