Tremlett has a niggle, but expected to play second Test
July 26th, 2011 - 9:29 pm ICT by IANSLondon, July 26 (IANS) England pacer Chris Tremlett, who bowled with a niggling hamstring in India’s second innings in the first cricket Test at Lord’s, is expected to be fit for the second Test at Trent Bridge, starting Friday.
The paceman, who took four wickets in England’s 196-run victory to go one up in the four-Test series, left the field regularly during the fourth and fifth day’s play and did not look at all comfortable, reports the Evening Standard.
Tremlett has been named in an unchanged 12-man squad for the second Test and Andrew Strauss is confident his new-ball bowler will play at Nottingham. “He seems fine,” said the England captain. “He has a little niggle but I think he should be fine.”
“He’s an important player for us and has troubled everyone he has come up against. It’s not surprising when you are as tall and strong as he is. He’s the real deal and he’s definitely added something to our attack,” Strauss said.
