Train smashes into vehicles in Egypt, 27 killed

Cairo, July 16 (Xinhua) At least 27 people were killed and 50 wounded Wednesday when a train plooughed into several vehicles in northern Egypt, police sources said. The deadly collision occurred on a crossing near the Mediterranean coast city of Marsa Matruh, some 430 km northwest of the Egyptian capital of Cairo, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the state MENA news agency reported that at least 27 people have been confirmed dead in the incident.

The police sources said the death toll is expected to rise since some of the 50 injured are in serious conditions.
