Train services disrupted in Bengal
October 27th, 2010 - 11:26 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Oct 27 (IANS) Train services on the Khana-Rampurhat section of Eastern Railway’s Howrah division were suspended for over three hours Wednesday after a trailer got stuck while crossing the railway track in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, officials said.
“A stone chip loaded trailer, while crossing the railway track, got stuck after developing a mechanical snag. A road crane was pressed into service to remove the trailer. After more than three hours, it was lifted and train services resumed along the route,” said an Eastern Railway spokesperson.
Following the disruption, 5629 Chennai-Egmore Guwahati Express, 5658 Kanchanjunga Express, 2347 Howrah-Rampurhat Express, 3161 Kolkata-Balurghat Tebhaga Express, 2364 Haldibari-Kolkata Intercity Express, 3018 Ganadeveta Express, 2345 Saraighat Express and five other passenger trains were detained for about three hours, the spokesperson added.
