Trailer for Antonio Banderas film appears on web
May 9th, 2011 - 11:04 am ICT by IANSMadrid, May 9 (IANS/EFE) A trailer for “La piel que habito”, the much-awaited film reuniting Spanish director Pedro Almodovar and actor Antonio Banderas, has surfaced on the web.
The 33-second trailer shows Banderas in a scene with co-star Elena Anaya.
The trailer, which was prepared as part of the marketing materials for the 64th Cannes Film Festival, was leaked on the web, spokesmen for production company El Deseo told EFE Sunday.
Images of a woman dressing, a gloved hand and a fight between the characters played by Anaya and Banderas are among those included in the trailer for the film, a work that Almodovar has called frightening.
The film, based on French author Thierry Jonquet’s novel “Mygale”, tells the story of the obsession of Dr. Ledgard (Banderas) with creating new skin.
Ledgard’s wife died in a fiery car crash and he devotes his life to developing replacement skin that could have saved her.
“I think the film is an intense drama that sometimes veers toward ‘noir’, sometimes toward science fiction and other times toward horror,” Almodovar said.
