New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) The movement of heavy vehicles on the stretch of National Highway 8 linking Delhi to Gurgaon will be restricted Sunday afternoon to facilitate smooth movement of US President Barack Obama’s motorcade after his arrival in Delhi.
Obama’s plane is likely to reach Delhi airport around 3.30 p.m. Sunday.
“We will follow the usual protocol to facilitate vehicular movement of VVIPs. When Obama arrives, restrictions on traffic movement will come into place,” Special Commissioner (Traffic) Ajay Chadha told IANS.
Earlier in the day, Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic), told reporters that commuters in the city may expect minimal congestion Sunday.
“We have deployed around 300-400 traffic policemen specially to regulate traffic. Other restrictions will be put in place as and when Obama and his entourage move around in the city,” said Garg.
