Tourists rescued from capsized boat in Dal Lake
May 12th, 2011 - 11:05 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, May 12 (IANS) Timely action by the Jammu and Kashmir river police Thursday saved a tourist family after their boat capsized in the Dal Lake here due to strong winds, police said.
“The family comprising O.P. Agarwal, his wife and their two children were rescued in swift action by the river police guards when the shikara (boat) in which the Agarwals had gone on a pleasure ride in the Dal Lake capsized because of a sudden storm in the Lake today (Thursday) evening,” a police statement said.
