New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS) Toshiba Elevator, a unit of Japanese conglomerate Toshiba Corporation, has won the elevator contract in One Avighna Park, a $411 million residential-cum-commercial project in Mumbai.

This is the first elevator project for Toshiba, which started its operation here in July 2011 through subsidiary Toshiba Elevator India.

“Toshiba Elevator is happy to be associated with Indian project,” Toshiba Elevator and Building Systems Corp president and CEO Shinchiro Akiba said in a statement.

One Avighna Park project, which is spread over seven acres of land, is currently under construction and is likely to be completed by 2013. Toshiba will provide vertical transportation package that includes elevators and escalators.

Akiba said Toshiba Elevator sees huge business opportunities in Indian markets. He said through its first project in India, the company would try to exhibit cutting edge technological innovation to its customers.

Toshiba Elevator has global presence and completed several high profile projects in several countries including Guinness Record-holding fastest speed elevator in Taipei Finance Center, which was completed in 2005. The record still stands.
