Top cop catches cops taking bribe

- Lucknow, Nov 6 (IANS) Lucknow’s Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prem Prakash Friday caught a traffic police constable and a home guard red handed while taking bribe from a truck driver.
The constable Mohammad Tufail and home guard Ram Naresh have been arrested and an inquiry has been ordered against traffic sub inspector (TSI) Pankaj Singh, who was on duty at the spot.
“The DIG was returning from Sarojininagar area when he saw Tufail and Naresh taking a Rs.100 note from a truck driver in Krishnanagar area. He stopped there and summoned the local police,” Inspector A.K. Shukla of Krishnanagar police station told IANS.
The DIG also ordered an inquiry against Singh, who was on duty at the Bara Birwa crossing, where the incident took place, he added.
“Tufail and Naresh were arrested and sent to jail later in the evening and Singh has been removed from duty till the inquiry against him is completed,” police spokesman A.K. Pathak said.
