Toll plaza attendant shot dead in Gurgaon
September 23rd, 2011 - 10:54 pm ICT by IANSGurgaon, Sep 23 (IANS) A 22-year-old attendant at the toll plaza here was shot dead by a man when he demanded the fees, police said Friday.
Umesh Kumar Pandey, who hails from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa, was working as toll collector at Kheri Daula in south Gurgaon.
Early Friday morning, a white coloured Mahindra Bolero stopped at the toll counter and the driver refused to pay the toll amount of Rs.27.
“The man on the driver’s seat got down and entered into verbal altercation with Pandey after which he shot Pandy in his chest and fled,” said a senior police officer.
Umesh was taken to to Medicity Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police have taken the closed-circuit television footage from the toll booth and issued an alert.
