Tibetans celebrate Dalai’s birthday at Bylakuppe
July 6th, 2011 - 11:43 pm ICT by IANSMysore, July 6 (IANS) The 76th birthday of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was celebrated with prayers, flag hoisting and cultural programmes at Bylakuppe, the largest Tibetan settlement, near here Wednesday.
Prayer service was followed by hoisting of the Tibetan flag and planting of saplings in the camp, the first one to be set up in India to accommodate thousands fleeing Tibet.
A cultural programme was also organised, camp head Phuntsok Tsering said.
Similar celebrations were held in Bangalore and Mundgod in north Karnataka where also Tibetans live.
