Thundershowers cool Delhi, more expected (Lead)

New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) Thundershowers accompanied by strong winds lashed Delhi Monday afternoon. The weather office has forecast more rains during the day.

The minimum temperature was three notches below average at 25.4 degrees Celsius. The maximum and minimum temperatures Tuesday are expected to be between 32 and 25 degrees, respectively.

The Safdarjung weather office recorded 0.2 mm of rain from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. Monday, taking the season’s total to 448.8 mm, deficient by 26 percent.

The Met office has forecast cloudy skies during the next 24 hours, with a few spells of rain and thundershowers, one or two of which could be heavy.

“The coolness is likely to persist and a few more spells of rain and thundershowers, some of them heavy, towards evening (Monday), are expected,” the Met office said.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, jams were reported near ITO, Azad market, Narela and Seelampur.

“Complaints of waterlogging came in from Mukherjee Nagar in north Delhi and Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi,” a Delhi traffic helpline official said.
