Three trucks catch fire, one dead
February 2nd, 2011 - 12:52 am ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Feb 1 (IANS) A man was killed when three trucks parked in a row caught fire on G.T. Road here, police said Tuesday.A truck was being loaded with goods near Lal Kuan Monday night when Shakku, the truck helper, accidentally touched an overhead high-tension wire triggering sparking which led to the fire.
The driver Naushad was standing close felt the electric current and jumped into a nearby canal. The fire intensified quickly and spread to two trucks parks alongside within no time,” Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Vijeta.
Shakku was charred to death on the spot while Naushad was admitted to hospital.
The three trucks were completely burnt, the officer said, adding that a case had been registered at the Kavi Nagar police station.
