Three suspected Maoists arrested with explosives
July 13th, 2010 - 5:36 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, July 13 (IANS) Three suspected Maoists have been arrested along with a big cache of explosives in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, police said Tuesday.
The three, who are from Bihar, were nabbed Tuesday afternoon in Pratapur, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“They appear to be Maoists. Prima facie it appears the men were on their way to supply explosives to some Maoists in the district,” police Inspector Altaf Hussain told reporters in Chandauli.
“As many as 350 detonators, a carbine, a gun and several live cartridges have been found from the arrested men,” he added.
Chandauli police have informed the Bihar police about the arrest.
“We have learnt that the three men have several cases pending against them in police stations in Bihar. We have asked for more information about them from the Bihar police,” said Hussain.
