Three students run over by bus in Andhra
April 11th, 2009 - 8:40 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, April 11 (IANS) Three women students were killed and five others injured Saturday when they were run over by a speeding bus near the port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Police said the accident occurred near Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The brakes of the bus belonging to state-owned road transport failed and the driver could not control the vehicle.
The MBA students of Hyderabad-based Maheshwari College had gone on a study tour to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and were standing by the roadside when the accident occurred. The injured students were admitted to King George Hospital in the coastal city.
Immediately after the incident, people attacked the bus and handed over the driver to police. The protest led to a traffic jam in the area.
