Three poachers held with tortoises
September 7th, 2011 - 10:37 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 7 (IANS) Three poachers were arrested with around 100 tortoises in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district Wednesday, police said.
The three men - aged 22-32 years - were nabbed near the railway station by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
“Preliminary investigations indicate the three were supposed to hand over the tortoises to their clients in Kolkata,” GRP inspector I.D. Singh told reporters in Jaunpur, some 250 km from Lucknow.
