Three people die in West Bengal road accident
December 17th, 2008 - 7:08 pm ICT by IANS`Kolkata, Dec 17 (IANS) Three people died and one was seriously injured when a speeding truck collided with a car Wednesday in a West Bengal town, the police said.The incident took place in Suri town in Birbhum district, about 200 km from here.
“A speeding truck collided with a Maruti car coming from the opposite direction in Suri town Wednesday. The three car passengers died on the spot, while the car driver was hospitalized with serious injuries,” a senior police official of Suri police station told reporters.
The police official said all the passengers were residents of Kolkata and were going to the Kali temple at Tarapith in Birbhum’s Rampurhat town.
It seems all three were friends and had hired the car for going to Tarapith.
“The truck driver is absconding,” the police official said.
