September 27th, 2009 - 2:57 pm ICT by IANSAgartala, Sep 27 (IANS) Three pandal hoppers, including a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper, died after the vehicles they were riding collided here, police said Sunday.
“CRPF personnel Nirmal Das, 29, and his friend Debajyoti Bangshi, 26, were riding their bike when it collided with another two-wheeler on which a government doctor Biswajit Dey, 35, and his wife were riding. All were visiting puja pandals (marquees) late Saturday,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Nepal Das said.
Das said all the four were seriously injured and were rushed to the Gobinda Ballav Pant Medical College and Hospital, where three of them died.
The CRPF trooper, who was on leave, had purchased his motorcycle only a few days ago. He came here with his friend to witness the Durga Puja festival.
