New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) Three more men were arrested Monday for their involvement in a brawl in south Delhi in which two cousins were killed. Police claim to have recovered knives used to stab the two.
Sunil Pandey, 24, Amit Pandey, 25, and Bhisham Sharma, 20 - all residents of Chirag Dilli- were arrested Monday, police said. Two others were arrested Sunday.

“With the arrest of the five accused, we have solved the double murder case of Chirag Dilli and recovered the weapons used to commit the crime - including two knives, two sticks, one iron rod and one razor - from their possession,” a police official said.

All the five arrested men were presented before a duty magistrate, who sent them to 14 days’ judicial custody.

Vikas, 19, and Vijendra Sharma, 25, were killed late Friday when a group of over a dozen men, armed with knives and iron rods, barged into their house and attacked them.

The two were stabbed to death by the attackers before the victims’ families got hold of one of them, identified as Sumit, and lynched him before police reached the spot.

According to the police, it was a case of enmity between two communities and a heated argument between the youths of the communities at a wedding ceremony in the area eventually led to the brawl and the killings.

“Raids are being conducted to apprehend the remaining accused who are absconding,” an official said.

The police also said that “revenge” was the motive for the fight.

“After an engagement party Thursday night, the accused felt humiliated and planned to take revenge on Vikas and Vijender. They wanted to attack the victims the following night as few people would be present in the locality,” police said.
