Three killed in separate accidents in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 14(IANS) At least three people were killed in separate accidents in Delhi in the last 24 hours, the police said Friday.In one of the incidents, a 23-year-old man died while his cousin suffered injuries when a dumper rammed into their scooter in Narela area of north-west Delhi late Thursday.

“The victim Balvinder Singh, 23, was going on a scooter along with his cousin Kuldeep to a dhaba to have dinner, when suddenly a speeding dumper hit them from behind, resulting in severe injuries to the duo,” a senior police officer said.

“People on the spot informed the police after which the two were rushed to Maharshi Valmiki Hospital. However, the dumper driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle,” he added.

Balvinder succumbed to injuries at the hospital while undergoing treatment. Kuldeep was later shifted to Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini area where his condition is stated to be critical. Both belong to Haryana.

In another case, a 50-year-old man was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in Mongolepuri area Thursday night.

“The deceased Sudhir had gone out for a walk, when a speeding vehicle hit him from behind and ran over him. He was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” the police officer said. Further investigations in the matter are on.

Meanwhile, in another case, a 31-year-old man died after his motorcycle rammed into a rickshaw in Paschim Vihar area of west district Thursday.

“The accident took place when Lal Chand, a resident of Uttam Nagar area, was returning home from Peeragarhi. When he was near Keshopur vegetable market, he lost control over the bike and rammed into a rickshaw,” the police said.

Lal Chand was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
