Three killed in IAF chopper crash in Jharkhand (Second Lead)
September 11th, 2010 - 11:16 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Sep 11 (IANS) An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter crashed in Jharkhand’s Godda district Saturday evening killing two pilots and a co-pilot onboard, a police official said.
The helicopter crashed at Perakhani village in Sunderpahari area, about 550 km from here.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dumka Range) Vinay Kumar Pandey told IANS: “Three people — two pilots and one co-pilot — died when the Chetak helicopter crashed near Perakhani village.”
“Bad weather seems to be the reason behind the crash,” he said.
The helicopter was coming from Kalaikunda air force station in West Bengal to Singarsi air base in Jharkhand’s Pakur district.
All the three bodies have been recovered, police said.
