Three killed in crackers explosion in Uttar Pradesh
May 5th, 2010 - 12:16 am ICT by IANSLucknow, May 4 (IANS) At least three members of a family were killed and eight others injured when a bundle of fireworks exploded inside a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place in Rampur’s Milakkhanam area inside a house where crackers were being manufactured.
“The explosion was so intense that a couple and their son died on the spot. All the three were involved in manufacturing crackers,” a police officer said.
“Those injured are being treated at a hospital, where the condition of three of them is stated to be critical,” he added.
According to police, the couple had a valid license for manufacturing crackers.
Rampur is some 300 km from Lucknow.
