Three killed in community clash in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Feb 12 (IANS) A marriage party turned into mayhem as three people were shot dead when Dalits and Brahmins clashed over rights of passage in a Ghaziabad locality Thursday evening.
The incident occurred in Nayphal locality of Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the Dalits were taking out a marriage procession through the Nayphal locality of Brahmins. The Dalit boys were dancing in high spirits, when some unidentified people among the viewers taunted the boys. Angered by the remarks, the boys pulled out their pistols and in a fit of rage opened fire on the crowd, killing two people on the spot.

The Brahmins opened retaliatory fire on the Dalits, killing one of them on the spot.

Locals informed the police about the shooting. A tense situation was prevailing in the area and the police have been deployed to keep peace.
