Three killed in accident

New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) Three people were killed and two others were injured after being hit by a speeding truck here, police said Wednesday.

Moolchand Chhabra, 48, along with his two son, Vicky, 21 and Tarun 23, and wife Vimal, 43, and Santosh Singh, 27, were going from Delhi to Gurgaon in a car Tuesday night.

While they were on the way, one of the wheels of the car got punctured on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway in South Delhi.

“Santosh and Vicky got down and were pushing the car to the roadside when a speeding truck hit them from behind,” said a senior police officer.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital where Santosh and Vicky were declared brought dead. Vimla died during treatment after a few hours,” added the officer.

The errant driver and the conductor of the truck fled from the spot and police impounded the vehicle.

The victims had come to attend a function organised in Delhi at the residence of one of their relatives.

The officer said that all of the victims stay in DLF Phase II at Gurgaon in Haryana.

“A case regarding the incident has been registered and hunt is on to nab the errant driver,” added the officer.
